Cobbled graceful streets with cosy restaurants friendly welcome you with the smell of fragrant coffee and crispy croissants in the morning. Passers-by’s smiles slay and simply make you believe in fairy-tales. Yes, that is how truly Paris looks.
All the city center has got not more than seven levels. That feature creates harmony and a sort of pleasant ranking. The first striking thing, which can be seen from any viewpoint of Great Paris, is of course the Eiffel Tower. In fact, it is called the loveliest woman of all tourists and citizens. The Tower was constructed and built within the scope of international exhibition in 1889. It was erected in honor of French revolution’s centenary. Gustave Eiffel, the “Father” of the lace Lady, was eager to blind all the existed buildings in its height. Nowadays the Eiffel Tower is 324 meters high.
Unfortunately, there were the times, when the Tower wasn't associated with beauty and gracefulness. Many guides often tell a story about it, that in the 19th century great amount of the citizens found the Eiffel Tower as a disguating one and it was even concidered to be a thorn in one's side. Artists, writers and cultural workers were dissatisfied with the Tower. In 1887 the notice of appeal was written by 300 members of the opposition, the brightest one among them all was Guy de Maupassant, who had tend to criticize the Tower at any suitable moment. For a long time he was searching for a place, where it would be impossible to see it. And at once Maupassant's friends surprisingly found him at the restaurant in the ground floor of the Eiffel Tower. He answered with ease, that this was the only one place in Paris where the tower was not visible. This quotation became widely popular.
Moreover, Paris is also famous with one of the largest museums in the world, the Louvre. From French it means "wolvish hole". It friendly welcomes 30 000 tourists per month. The great masterpiece among all the collections, of course, is unbelievable "Gioconda" with its worl famous mysterious smile.
Don't black out georges Notre-Dame Cathedral, which is concidered to be a spiritual heart of the city. It is located on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité. In the novel by Victor Hugo the Cathedral was described in details. Large amount of documentary and historic films were shoot in honour of this building.
Paris is the most polished capital in the world. Through the centuries the city has saved romantisism of its glorious past in its present days. Paris is a really multifaced city, and everyone, who comes here to "to see Paris and die", will surely find an entertainment fot any taste. You can enjoy local culture, arcitecture and artistry for hours or just let yourself feel the unique atmosphere and you will fall in love with Paris at the first glance.
