Petroglyphic tombs
Summer is the time of adventures and discoveries, journeys and joy. At the cold winter evening, hiding in the enormous plaid with a cup of hot tea, I am dreaming about the sun. I am opening a computer file, noted as “Summer. Turkey. 2009”. Pieces of memory about wonderful sunny days flow one on another. I am smiling. The pictures are colourful and alive. They are seem to begin to move and to fill my present time with warmth. Here it is, the photo, illustrating our family complacent and tanned, against the rock tombs “Demre – Mira – Kekova”. It’s an amazing place that keeps a piece of history in itself. Turning up there you feel the energy and an unreal strong fill you. The place amazed me not only because of its beauty but because of it’s energy. The rock tombs were constructed hundred years ago by people like we are, but it difficult to believe in it. There were no such technologies and machines as we are having now, but it didn’s spoil the construction. Gravened straight in the rock, as small lodges, they strike by their antiquity, mysticism and grandeur. Not far from the rock toms a small Coliseum is located. Such constructions were very popular in the past. There is such a Coliseum almost in every region of Turkey. To be more exact, that reminds us about their existence hundred years ago. The heap of stones with whimsical ornament, a semicircle with ladder, not higher than a seven storied house. From the first time it seem an old heap of stones… but each of them leaves it’s own life, knows the secrets of these ancient constructions, saw that happens hundred years ago and will see what would happen later. Rather simple, but so entertaining. The Inspiration, curiosity, adrenaline – that’s what I feel, when I am turning out to be in new places, meeting new people. I want to know more, to see further, to take photos. The journeys are my passion. The mug became empty and it’s time to return back to the reality and to put photos and memory aside, for some time…
