The Motovilichinsky factory during the Great Patriotic War.

On the 22th of June in 1941 fascist Germany attacked our country �without any declaration of war. the war lasted for 1418 days and it was justly called “the Great Patriotic war”.

During the first months Germany occupied the territory where 40% (88 billions of people.), of the whole population lived and where 46% of the country’s industry were situated. Файл:Zavod89.jpg


After the seizure of the European part of Russia the eastern areas were to become the center of the industry. They were pinned hopes on. And the miracle took place – the thing that hadn’t ever happened in the world. Producing metal three times less and mining coal four times less, soviet industry at the close of war was working out twice as many of military equipment, than Germany and its allies.

The “Gray-Headed” Ural became the core of war economics, producing 40% of all military production of the country, including 60% of metal, 60% of medium and 100% of heavy tanks. More than a third of soviet machinery and metal working was amassed there. Just at that time Perm (Molotov then) became one of the leader of native military-industrial complex

Altogether 1523 enterprises and 10 billions of people were evacuated to the western areas and the Ural accepted 667 enterprises from them. In Perm (Molotov) area 124 enterprises and 320 thousand of people were evacuated.

By the september of 1942 year all the factories of the town augmented the product release twice on the whole. The Motovilichinsky factory augmented the production of main manufacture eight times more. During the first 14 months of war labour productivity in the town grew at 40%.

The Motovilichinsky factory was given a government commission – to develop and to put on the production line the light regimental cannon.

In the result after a month of work the factory managed got stright the output of the famous “sorokopyatka”, which was unrivalled on battlefields. German armourers didn’t manage to make an analogous light cannon according to its possibilities. On the whole during the war years the Motovilichinsky factory gave front 48 600 of artillery sustems, including a great number of high-powered 152-millimeter cannons for self-propelled artillery.

In excess of the plan the factory produced the armament for 116 regiment.

For the succesful dispatch of the government commission The Motovilichinsky factory was conferred a decoration of the Red Labour Banner upon and a lot of workers and employees – upon orders and medals. For the years of war the factory was rewarded with three orders.
