History
Cinema "Crystal" was opened on 30 December, 1960, and designed by A.P. Zagorodnikov and D. Y. Rudnik. At that time it was the second panoramic theatre in the USSR. The hall of the cinema had 915 seats. The construction is made in a shape of a cube. The three of the main walls are made of glass that creates original luminous effect inside. This glass structure also point to the name of the cinema showing its mineral nature. The cinema has modern and domestically produced cinematographic equipment. Functional performance of other panoramic cinemas like “Mir” (Moscow) and “Leningrad” (St. Petersburg) were taken into account during construction of the cinema. The cinema “Crystal” became the first panoramic cinema in Perm. Its technology was considered as prospective. The halls of the cinema have attracted a lot of visitors. The most popular exhibits of Soviet Hall used to be models of the first Earth satellites, functioning nuclear power station and nuclear-powered ice-breaker “Lenin” as well as the cinema hall, where the best Soviet films were shown. Perm took part in Perm enterprise exhibition and got cinematographic equipment as a reward for it. That equipment was set in a new specially built cinema “Crystal”.
The first Soviet panoramic film featured in 1961. The film was directed by Roman Karmen and titled “My vast homeland”. The cinema paid off for the year and turnes the film service leader in Perm. In early 1990s the cinema had a tough time as its equipment was becoming obsolete and unworkable. In 2001 partial renovation took place there and in 2006 the cinema was closed for complete renovation. The old building was knocked down and the new one was built. The only thing that survived was the common purpose of the building.
The opening
The opening of the new cinema "Crystal" was on 8 April, 2010, and the cinema was renamed as "Crystal-IMAX". It was the first Crystal-IMAX in Perm Krai and The Urals. Nowadays the potential of the cinema has grown a lot. It has equipped with the most modern IMAX-facilities. The large screen displays sharp, crystal-clear and exciting picture. Due to three-dimensional digital sound, the audience feels like being in the very centre of the film. 
Discription
Nowadays the cinema IMAX Crystal is the first and only cinema of such format in Perm Krai and in the Urals. It is also the biggest cinema in the Urals. The area of Crystal is over 30 000 sq.m. .jpg)
Here you can find the IMAX hall calculated on 254 places and four halls on 232, 213, 156 and 175 places. In one of halls the most modern equipment for display of movies in a 3D format — a film projector of Christie Digita and the broadcasting equipment with the polarizing points of xPand is installed. On the 4th floor of the IMAX Crystal cinema visitors can find the gallery of autographs of the Hollywood stars which doesn't have analogs in Russia and the museum of the Crystal cinema. On the 3rd floor there is a cozy coffee house named «Very Coffe», there visitors can take pleasure in a tremendous panoramic view of the central part of the city. And in the summer also the verandah of this cafe works. 
On the first floor you can find a Bowling club on 11 game paths. In the Crystal cinema the underground parking, ramps and places for the audience with limited opportunities is provided.
Sculptures
On the square in front of the cinema many Perm sculptors express their thoughts and show their imagination. It's the place where there are a lot of interesting and unusual sculptures.
This sculpture is the most popular among tourists and locals.
