We would like to tell you about a wonderful place in the Pskov region, especially about the Svyatogorsk Holy Dormition monastery which is located in the heart of the old part of the village Pushkin Mountains.  This monastery is orthodox and works at present. According to the chronicles of Pscov, the history of the monastery dates back to 1566, when the shepherd Timothy, the inhabitant of pskov suburb Voronich by name, found the miraculous icon of the Mother of God ( Hodegetria)  on one of the hills in the vicinity of the city (at present  the settlement Voronich is the part of the  Pushkin`s culture preserve ). Additionally, in 1569 Ivan the Terrible  founded the monastery there. Ivan the Terrible and tsar Mikhail Fedorovich really appreciated the Svyatogorsk monastery, because of that fact it was one of the twenty richest and most venerated monasteries of Russia. There was the sloboda  Tobolenets in the 16th century which name  was given by the name of a nearby lake, from the beginning of the XVIII century it was already the whole village of the Holy Mountain, which from 1925 have been called as Pushkin Mountains. In the XVIII century the borders of Russia were expanded, and Svyatogorsk had lost its cross-border significance, the monastery was deprived of a large part of their land by the decree of Catherine II. However, due to the miracle-working icons of the Mother of God which have preserved well, it is honored by the Christians all over the world nowadays. Since the beginning of the XIX century,  the history of the Svyatogorsk monastery has been connected with A.S.Pushkin. Ganibally, distant relatives of the poet in the  mother`s line, invested money in development of the monastery, after  that they were let be buried at the altar of the Dormition cathedral ( Pushkin`s grandmother and grandfather as well as his brother Plato who had died being a baby were buried there). In 1824 - 1826 years the poet was a frequent guest of the Svyatogorskii monastery. He came to the fairs, which were organized in the ninth Friday after Easter; moreover he often went to the monastic library to enjoy reading books there. Most of the information he heard there, Alexander directly used in his books; for example, some information helped him in writing of some chapters of "Boris Godunov." [[Файл:Mogila Pushkin Pskov 2011.jpg|thumb|right|  The Grave of Pushkin]] In 1836 the poet buried his mother there, and, according to the legend, he paid 10 silver rubles to the monastery's treasury  - as if it was a place for himself ... On the 6th of February in 1837 early in the morning (it was January 29 according to the old style), Pushkin was buried at the altar of the Assumption Cathedral. At the tomb of the great poet wooden cross with the inscription "Pushkin" was erected.A monument at the grave of Alexander Pushkin was established much later, in 1841. In 1924 the Church of the monastery had been closed until the beginning of the World War II. The monastery had terrible destructions and turmoil during the War. Both the monastery and the Pushkin’s grave were mined and blown up miraculously. After the war, the monastery was transferred to the Academy, and after that – it was restored, the museum exhibition was opened there. In 1992 the monastery was revived, and it is open nowadays. As for the number of monastery brotherhood in Church, it is almost the same as in Pushkin's time, and some monks are the same names as Pushkin’s acquaintances. The main thing is that nearly every day the prayer "for the repose of the boyar Alexander" is read there. In the monastery there is also the daily service according to the monastic charter.
