In some time, the house has practically changed beyond recognition. The whole atmosphere of the house has suffered, for it is now inhabited by people who are not Russian intellectuals. Moreover, at present, plenty of commercial offices occupy the ground floor of the building. Although this house is on the one of the main streets of the city and is a cultural and spiritual heritage of Perm, it has never been restored. What’s more, it can be demolished. The main problem now is how to protect the house, as it is one of historical values not only in our city but also in Russia. Besides, only five buildings of this kind were built in our country in the second part of the 20th century. | In some time, the house has practically changed beyond recognition. Among many masterpieces of architecture of Perm the house on 49 Komsomolskiy Prospect has a special meaning. The house was built in 1954 by Rudnick for scientists and professors who had been working at schools of higher education, that’s why the house was called "The House of Scientists". The house had been planned to consist of 4- or 5-roomed flats, but large flats in the middle part of the building were divided into two parts because of economic problems. Such a decision afforded to have more places for living with less comfort. Some time later shops, a post office and a fashion house were placed there.
