Pushkin's Library
Walking along one of the oldest streets of Perm city, along the Sibirskaya Street, among a great amount of ancient buildings of the XVIII-XIXth centuries which nowadays are architectural monuments, I came across one of the most interesting buildings of our city. In 1967 in Perm Pushkin's Library which is the largest public centre of book culture of the city, was opened. It is situated in a private residence — a monument of architecture of the XIX-th century which has a unique history thanks to the former owners of the building Zhmaev, Dyagilev, Smyshljaev.
Nowadays the library is the connection between past and future, between cultural traditions and high technologies, however the building itself needs reparing.
The Pushkin library is a member of the Russian library association, the winner of city and regional competitions in a cultural sphere.
The library provides such professional services as library consulting on information search in electronic DB and the Internet, training to information and library culture. Those who are interested can visit book collections: pushkiniana, the classical textbook, a collection of the rare book and others. In Pushkin's Library, there are always exhibitions of new books and magazines, excursions on the topics "Pushkin without boredom", "Virtual walks with Boris Pasternak", Pushkin's seasons.
Providing all citizens of Perm the library service informs all about the structure of funds of all municipal libraries, has an easy access to the funds of books, journals, CD-ROMs, DVDs, audiobooks, all set of computer and multimedia services, information search in legal databases. Representatives of the city cultural elite are interested in cooperation with the Pushkin library.
